Five teenagers are facing charges after the brutal brawl outside a Bethesda Metro station after the Bethesda-Chevy Chase and Walter Johnson game on on Friday, Sept. 1.

A week later, officials from the Montgomery County Department of Police announced that 16-year-old Kharon Crosby, of Bethesda, will be charged as an adult for armed robbery and second-degree assault.

Additionally, two other teens, 15 and 16, will be charged as juveniles with robbery and assault offenses. Two 15-year-olds will also face first-degree assault charges.

It is alleged that three teens assaulted and robbed their victims at the Metro station following the game. The incident was reported by one of the victims and his parent that same night.

Video from the fight went viral on social media, drawing the attention of Montgomery County Police, who were then able to identify their suspects along with an assist from Montgomery County Public Schools officials.

The fight came on the same night Councilmembers Andrew Friedson and Kate Stewart were on a ride along with police, who got to see officers in action breaking up the incident.

In a letter to the community, Bethesda-Chevy Chase Principal Shelton Mooney and Walter Johnson Principal Jennifer Baker confirmed that there were “some serious student injuries,” while calling it “unacceptable.”

“The game went well and was an exciting match. Our fans and attendees were great and everyone seemed to have a fun evening,” they wrote. “The safety plans jointly made by both schools worked well on campus and all of the fans left school grounds safely.

“These behaviors by students are dangerous, illegal and completely inappropriate,” they continued. As individual students from both schools are identified appropriate disciplinary action, in alignment with the MCPS Student Code of Conduct, will be assigned.”

The incident remains under investigation, and more arrests are expected to be made.
